Launched in March 2024, the SMG Open Access research repository is now home to wide-ranging research outputs produced across the Science Museum Group. Search the repository for downloadable museum research including exhibition texts, object labels, multimedia resources, research reports, and much more.
In response to changing Open Access requirements from United Kingdom Research and Innovation (UKRI) and other research funders, SMG joined the British Library Shared Repository scheme, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), in 2023.
Led by the Research and Public History department, the launch of the first iteration of the repository focused on showcasing the breadth of research that takes place in a museum setting, including providing an afterlife for exhibition research without a digital home. Going forward, the repository will ensure that SMG’s funded outputs, such as journal articles, monographs and PhD theses, are made available Open Access.
