The Science & Society Picture Library (SSPL) represents the extraordinary collections of all museums in the Science Museum Group, including the Science Museum, National Railway Museum, National Science and Media Museum, and Science and Industry Museum. With an online offer of over 120,000 images, SSPL’s experienced researchers are ready to expertly fulfill any brief.
We are continuously adding the very best selections from our own collections as well as from archives around the globe including the National Archives, British Postal Museum, Planet News Archive, and Daily Herald Archive, to name only a few. SSPL has something for any project, and our online catalogue continues to grow every day.
We also offer footage, including classic clips of the twilight age of steam travel, Science Museum lecture films from the 1930s–1960s, the works of Louis Le Prince, Marey and Muybridge, and the poignant first ever colour film of 1902 by Lee and Turner.
