Case Study: SparkLab, Queensland Museum

The Science Museum Group (SMG) worked in partnership with the Queensland Museum in Australia on the $9.4 million redevelopment of their existing science centre, SparkLab, a world-class science centre showcasing cutting edge interactive STEM engagement.

Our team supported the Queensland Museum with the science centre’s interactive gallery development, based on the Science Museum Group’s popular Wonderlab galleries, which provide a hands-on and engaging space that uses innovative technology to fuel imaginations and show the wonder of science in our everyday lives.

SMG developed the content for the gallery in collaboration with the team at the Queensland Museum, as well as designing the learning resources for the gallery. SMG were also involved throughout the design process, providing comments at all stages, and ensuring that what was being designed would work for the target audience and ultimately meet the desired outcomes of the Queensland Museum.

The science centre opened to the public in August 2018 and has been well received by parents, teachers, and most importantly children. We are very proud to have had the opportunity to support the Queensland Museum on the redevelopment of their new science centre and contribute to the Museum’s success
