Do you have an idea for a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) themed exhibition, display, installation, event or festival? The Science Museum Group welcomes proposals for all aspects of our public programme!
Our mission and values
The Science Museum Group’s mission is to inspire futures by exploring science, technology, engineering and mathematics. We seek proposals that align with the following values:
- Inspiring futures: Does your proposal provide inspiration for all and the spark for future scientists, entrepreneurs, technicians, and engineers?
- Revealing wonder: Does your proposal unlock exciting ideas and open doors to understanding the wonder and beauty of science?
- Authentic storytelling: Does it tell an extraordinary story that brings SMG collections to life?
- Thinking big: Is your proposal bold and adventurous? Does it celebrate cutting edge STEM subjects and push boundaries?
- Open for all: Does your proposed activity create an inclusive and welcoming environment for all audiences? Is it accessible, enabling visitors from any background to see STEM as something for them?
- Igniting curiosity: Does your proposal spark imagination, passion, and a desire to learn? Will it give our audiences the resources, skills, and confidence to expand their curiosity?
Why the Science Museum Group?
Proposals should support the Science Museum Group’s mission while considering:
- Collections: Does your proposal use or speak directly to SMG’s collection through the exploration of STEM?
- Subject Matter: Does your proposal speak to cutting edge subjects in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or medicine?
- Local/regional: Does your proposal tell a local story and connect with the communities our museums serve? Does it reflect the voices and experiences of the people in the surrounding areas of our museums?
- Audiences: Does it create a welcoming and inclusive experience for those who may be visiting our museums for the first time? Will it appeal to those who currently don’t see STEM as something for them?
- Originality: Does your proposal reveal a new idea or offer fresh perspectives?
- Partnerships: Does your proposal help to establish a meaningful relationship with relevant organisations or groups that will enrich both parties?
