Members of the Prospect Union are taking part in a one-day strike at our museums and sites on Wednesday 23 October 2019. All our museums will open to the public as usual. However, a small number of activities may be impacted by the strike and may not be available to visitors on that day.
The dispute that led to the strike is related to the Science Museum Group’s 2019 pay settlement. Overall the settlement represents a 2.7% increase in salary costs; all employees received an increase of at least 1.5% and there was a 6.9% increase for those on the lowest salaries. The Group’s leadership team believe this was a reasonable offer given the challenging overall financial picture and has further committed to ensuring pay for those on the lowest salaries reaches the Real Living Wage/London Living Wage from 1 April 2020.
We have made every effort to minimise disruption on the day of the strike and hope all our visitors have an enjoyable day.
